NEW DELHI: AICC president Rahul Gandhi met the three newly appointed secretaries from Meghalaya to chalk out a strategy to revive the party in poll-bound Mizoram.
The AICC secretaries from Meghalaya are Zenith Sangma, Ampareen Lyngdoh and Charles Pyngrope.
Zenith, who is the secretary in charge of Arunachal Pradesh, has been asked to coordinate with AICC and APCC.
“The Congress got the popular mandate for a long time in the Himalayan state. But the BJP sabotaged that mandate luring our MLAs who went with the power at the Centre,” said Zenith about the change in power in Arunachal Pradesh.
“This is nothing but betrayal of people’s mandate. But soon with Congress revival in the North East with the help of such young leaders, the party will come back to power in its once powerful turf,” Rahul said.
Looking at Ampareen, the party president said more women should come forward to take up the challenge of leadership. “You as AICC secretary should travel at length and breadth of the hill state and connect the party with the people,” Rahul told her.
Ampareen is leaving for Mizoram soon. “I welcome you in your new role,” said Rahul, who also interacted with Charles who is the secretary in charge of Nagaland.
