TURA: Around 3216 senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs), who are beneficiaries under the ADIP and RVY Scheme in Garo Hills are set to receive aids and appliances in a mega distribution camp to be held on October 26 here at the Dikki Bandi Stadium at Dakopgre in Tura.
A meeting in this regard was convened by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh on Monday evening at the DRDA conference hall in which Superintendent of Police, Dr M G R Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Project Director, DRDA A M Sangma, Sub-Divisional Officer, Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, Swapnil Tembe, Adviser cum Planning Officer, State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, S K Seal and other officials of various line departments attended.
During the meeting, different infrastructure and other necessary arrangements for the mega camp was discussed and various line departments have been assigned specific task for the said programme. The Deputy Commissioner urged upon the line departments for coordination and cooperation in organising the programme successfully and also to perform the task assigned to each department. He also mentioned that the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma and other Union Minister is expected to attend the programme.
It was also informed by ALIMCO official, S Sengupta that 50 % fund of the expenditure budget of the programme will be released only after prior approval from the Ministry, Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
