Raids
In its drive against illi-cit liquor, the excise employees of East Khasi Hills District, Shillong conducted raids on restaurants and stalls in the town and on its outskirts where during the month of August, excise detected 25 cases with a seizure of 48.350 litres of local liquor and 26.645 litres India-made foreign liquor. In this connection, 20 persons were arrested under Excise Act.

 
Rice, sugar released
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin has informed that rice under National Food Security Act scheme, 2013 for the month of September, 2018 quota, for Antyodaya Anna Yojana, Priority House Hold, Non-NFSA, Buffer Stock for the month of July, 2018 and Annapurna for the months of April, May, June, August and September within Nongstoin Sadar Sub-Division whole sale centre has been released. Sugar for the months of January, February and March, 2018 has also been released and the scale of issue is 1 kg per month at the rate of Rs 30 per kg.

Karyanajali
To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Metallica-Sargam Sports & Cultural Club in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Shillong will organise ‘Karyanajali’ at Gandhi Buniyadi Hindi Secondary School, Golflinks from 11 am onwards every day from October 4 to 6. The theme of the activity is Campaign against Drug addiction especially substance abuse among the high school students.
