Education essential to survive today’s competition: Nongpoh MLA

NONGPOH: The legislator of Nongpoh constituency, Mayralborn Syiem on Monday said that education was a very important tools to survive in today’s world of competition. He was addressing the Parent’s meeting of Umta Secondary School in Ri Bhoi District.

“Everyone whether from urban or rural areas, nowadays strives for knowledge and it is very important that education should be the top priority of every parent towards their children” Syiem said adding that without education, there is no future.

He also said that there were no alternative ways to success which could only be achieved through hard work and dedication as only the best will survive in today’s world full of competitions while quoting the famous quote of Charles Darwin ‘Survival of the fittest’ and Swami Vivekananda’s ‘Arise, Awake and stop not until the goal is reached’.

Further, he also urged the parents, the school children and people at large to preserve the environment and to fight against drugs and other illicit substance which has started to advance even in rural villages especially among the youths not to mention in urban areas where drugs and other illicit substance is becoming a trend even among school children which a matter of great concerned, Syiem lamented.

Earlier, during the day, Syiem also inaugurated the community hall of Umta Thymmai and the basketball court of Umta Secondary School, Umta Rim which was constructed under the SRWP scheme.

The inauguration here was also attended by the District School Education Officer, Mr VS Nongbet, Rev D Ingti, Plielad Tiewsoh, Umta SS Principal, Mrs Pearly Pamshong, headmen and other prominent leaders of the constituency beside the school children.
