Financial assistance to WJH job card holders

SHILLONG: West Jaintia Hills district, which recently won an award for successful implementation of MGNREGA with 49,385 job cards, has an assured financial assistance of Rs 92,96,23,200 under MGNREGA for the year 2018-19 with the theme ‘Touching Lives; Making a Difference’.
This was informed during the one-day orientation programme for all MGNREGA & PMAY(G) staff of the district, organised by DRDA, Jowai on Monday, for Amlarem, Laskein and Thadlaskein. Donny M. Wallang, Project Director, laid emphasis on the VEC meeting on October 2 every year to prepare plans for the next financial year. Stating that every official needs a strong foundation, the orientation programme aims at renewing the inspiration, motivation and responsibility of the staff and VECs.
The Project Director also emphasised on the initiatives taken by DRDA such as the Knowledge Resource Centre, Teach to Learn and Learn to Teach, Concept of Face Time & Incremental Benefits besides regular meetings with the VECs who are the main stakeholders.
Deputy Commissioner Garod LSN Dykes and District Programme Coordinator, MGNREGA said such programme which will have a far reaching impact on successful implementation of the programme.
He also extended his greetings to the entire MGNREGA team which recently won the national award.
