The 10 candidates are:  Embhahlang Syiemlieh from Mawlai, Ricky Shullai from Laban-Mawprem, S. The party proposes a UDP candidate for the next Lok Sabha election from Shillong seat who will work together following an understanding with HSPDP which is its ally in Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) and other regional parties such as People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM).

Outlining its plans for the 2019 Lok Sabha seat, Lanong maintained that to avoid conflict the UDP can field its candidate in Shillong seat and NPP can field for Tura seat.

“NPP will field its own candidate in Garo Hills and UDP after coming to an understanding with other parties KHNAM, PDF and HSPDP, will field candidate from Shillong seat to avoid conflict. We will not field any candidate in Garo Hills and NPP to field candidate for Shillong seat,” he said.

He added that the party would send a proposal to the NPP on the matter.

The central election committee also discussed on the MP election candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in which names of former MLAs Paul Lyngdoh and Jemino Mawthoh were being  projected.

“The meeting has agreed to accept both of them as applicants who have the intention to contest the elections,” Lanong said.

The MP candidate will likely be announced on October 31 if no hindrances occur.
