SHILLONG: A puja reveler was arrested while police are looking for some more revelers who allegedly assaulted a cop who was posted in the city for duty during immersion.
East Khasi Hills SP, Davis Marak said that the incident happened on Friday near the office of Shillong Municipal Board when the puja revelers were going towards the immersion ghat and the cop who was posted in the city and regulating traffic, was asking the puja revelers to go in orderly fashion.
However, according to SP, a group of revelers who were drunk jumped out of the vehicle and started assaulting the cop.
While the main accused has been arrested, Police is looking for other revelers who were also involved in the assault.
Police have also registered a case.
The injured police personnel has been identified as Flint Anderson Lapang, aged around 31 years and hailing from Mawlai Nongpdeng while the arrested puja reveler was arrested identified as one Sunny Ghosh.
