Row over council candidate
Shaki Dkhar and Rigen Dkhar lodged a complaint stating that on October 11, Mutlang Dkhar and the Waheh Shnong of Wapungshnong village organised a public meeting in the village regarding the forthcoming council election. During the meeting, it is alleged that the Waheh Shnong announced that the villagers of Wapungshnong should support and vote for a common and particular candidate of his choice and not to deviate from the instruction of the Waheh Shnong.
Misuse of Swachh scheme
Daplin Sumer and Erjulin Khongthaw lodged a joint complaint stating that Nilus Massar, Chairman and Pynhunlang Ryngksai, Secretary, Swacch Bharat Scheme, Pynursla, misappropriated funds meant for the scheme.
Accident
On Sunday, one Bolero pick-up (MH-47TC-A224) capsized at Kynshi in West Khasi Hills. One occupant sustained injuries and was taken to TSS Memorial Hospital in Mairang.
On Saturday, one Maruti Alto (ML-14-0706) driven by Jogol Koch collided with another Alto (ML-08C-1516) driven by Manoj Hajong along Nirghini Road in South West Garo Hills. Both drivers sustained injuries and were taken to PHC Betasing.
On Friday around 7:00pm, one motorcycle ridden by Lal Marak met with an accident along the Rangatari-Ambari Road in South West Garo Hills. The rider died on the spot.
Assault
Iola Suting lodged a complaint stating that on October 18 around 1:00pm, Barskhem Khyriem (30) abused, assaulted and threatened her at Madanrting.
On October 17 around 1:00pm, Snilet Mawthoh (35) assaulted Paswel Mawrie at Umlynghong, Smit and threatened him with dire consequences. The accused also threatened the village elders with dire consequences.
Fraud
Premiership Synrem lodged a complaint stating that between September 24 to 27, one Larry Gibson who befriended the complainant through e-mail and SMS, fraudulently duped him of Rs 1,26,650, which was transferred to the account of the accused at SBI Rajkot Branch.
Labianglin Thangkhiew lodged a complaint stating that on October 15 around 4:14pm, she had received a text message informing her that Rs 3,500 had been debited from her Meghalaya Cooperative Bank account.
Theft
On October 16 around 7:30 pm, unknown miscreant(s) stole a music system and valuable documents from a Maruti car (ML-05B-2221) belonging to Banylla Kharwanlang which was parked opposite Step-by-Step School in Barik.
Apurba Kachari of BSNL Colony, Rynjah,lodged a complaint stating that on October 16, unknown miscreant(s) stole one Kirloskar pump valued at Rs 4,500 from her residence.
On October 20, while Bhole Ram, Manager, M/s Ratacherra petrol pump was on his way from Ratacherra to Khliehriat in a Maruti Alto driven by Ashiquddin, the driver and two of his accomplices robbed the manager and dumped him into a gorge on reaching Pathar quarry Lumshnong along NH-44. The assailants also fled with Rs 4 lakh cash. However, the manager managed to survive the ordeal and reported the matter to the police. Police were able to intercept the vehicle and arrested the driver while the two accomplices managed to escape.
Vandalism
Korni Khongshling (60) lodged a complaint stating that on October 18 around 11:00pm, two persons identified as Arjun Pohkati and Sylvester Khonglah aka Babu, pelted stones at her residence at Larbamon village, East Khasi Hills. Merina Khongshling and Margres Ryngrai were injured as a result of the incident.
