SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who is the chairman of the high level committee on relocation of Harijan Colony settlers, said on Monday the panel would meet soon.
Talking to media persons, Tynsong said the state government “shares the same concerns as the pressure groups” and intends to complete its recommendation at the earliest.
“The committee is not sleeping or sitting idle but working to complete its task at the earliest,” said Tynsong, adding that “inspection is almost done and the committee is ready for a sitting”.
The CEO of the Shillong Municipal Board has to furnish documents pertaining to Harijan Colony to the member secretary of the committee.
Tynsong reiterated that the government was sincere about solving the issue and he was “more than keen to give final recommendations”.
The high-level committee, which has been constituted to find out a permanent solution to the issue of relocating residents of Them Iew Mawlong or Harijan Colony, had asked the Directorate of Land Records and Survey to conduct an exhaustive land survey of the colony.
