PWD officials inspect dilapidated roads in Umsning

NONGPOH: Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) Nongpoh Division on Wednesday conducted a joint inspection of dilapidated roads in three villages falling under Umsning following a request from local legislator Jason Sawkmie Mawlong.
Lansius Syiemlieh, youth leader of Umsning, told media persons that the joint inspection was conducted at Jyntru, Saiden and Mawtnum villages after heads of the three villages approached the MLA seeking immediate repair and blacktopping of the roads prior to the church programmes being planned in the next few months.
Following the inspection, the Executive Engineer PWD, Nongpoh Division, B. Syiem accompanied by Sub-Divisional Officer D. Laso and Junior Engineers R Warjri and W Kharlor assured the villagers that the office will soon submit an estimate to the concerned authority for approval.
The PWD executive engineer said once the authority approves the project they will start repair work and urged the village leaders to cooperate with the department in implementing these schemes for the benefit of the residents.
