Mukul Sangma leads Cong protest in Meghalaya against removal of CBI Director

SHILLONG: The Congress party in Meghalaya on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Oakland  to condemn the removal of CBI Director Alok Kumar Verma by the BJP-led government at the Centre  to prevent fair investigation into Rafale fighter jets procurement  scandal.

The Congress members including woman and youth wing   with placards and banner led by Opposition leader,  Mukul Sangma shouted slogans in front of the CBI office and later took out a rally till the residence of the Leader of Opposition.

Speaking at the gathering,   Mukul Sangma  said that  the manner in which Narendra Modi Government was indulging in such activities was a threat to the  sustainability of the democracy

Stating that the whole administration of justice is being manipulated , he said that Modi  was trying to utilise and misuse these agencies henchman

According to Sangma, such activities of the BJP-led Central Government   would derail the functioning  of premiere investigation agency at a time important cases are pending and many are in the process of investigation.

He said that the blue eyed boy of PM Modi has been brought to the CBI to prevent the spilling of beans and they have resorted to hiding of one sin.

He said that the Union Government had destroyed institutions after institutions after they had first dismantled the Planning Commission

He also alleged that the Union Government was engaging in manipulation towards small state in the region by stopping funds which have derailed the whole momentum of growth.
