SHILLONG: The state government has filed a petition before the Supreme Court to vacate the August 31 NGT order that did not give any relief regarding coal mining.
The government through its standing counsel in the Supreme Court, Avijit Mani Tripathi, filed the civil appeal against the final order of the NGT that disposed of the coal mining case.
The NGT did not lift the ban on coal mining but left it to the Supreme Court to hear appeals.
The appeal filed by the state government on October 25 has been listed on November 2.
