NCC chief visits annual training camp in Umroi
SHILLONG: Major Gen Raju Chauhan, ADG, NCC Dte, NE region visited the combined annual training camp at Umroi Cantonment on Tuesday. During the visit, the General Officer interacted with officers, instructors and cadets of the entire North East region who participated in the camp. He was briefed about the camp by Brigadier PM Bali, Group Commander Shillong. He congratulated the administration and training team on the excellent conduct of the camp. Around 500 NCC cadets from eight NCC Gp HQs of NER Dte participated in the ten-day camp which began on October 26.

Special Interactive programme held in Tura
TURA: A one-day special interactive programme organised by the Office of the Assistant Director Information and Public Relations, Tura was held at Doldegre Upper Primary School in West Garo Hills on Tuesday. Officials of various departments highlighted their schemes and implementation in the district. During the programme, Agriculture Development Officer, Tura Salne A Sangma, Fishery Officer, Tura Risa Sangma, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, West Garo Hills, Dr. Hadasa B Sangma highlighted the schemes and their activities being done by their respective departments in the district. Further, the importance of the Right to Information Act 2005, was also delivered during the programme. Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations, Tura F K Marak, Nokma Rongalgre, Assistant Teacher, Doldegre Upper Primary School, Doldegre, J Shira were among others who spoke on the occasion.

Clothes, toys donated to WJH school
SHILLONG: In an effort to bring a smile to the students of Good Shepherd RC School, Darrang and Darrang Presbyterian Lower Primary School in West Jaintia Hills, the Meghalaya Environmental Social Organisation (MESO) along with the National’s People’s Party youth wing, the National’s People’s Youth Front (NPYF) organised a charity event on the premises of the school. Clothes, water bottles and toys were distributed among the students. The parents, headmaster and faculty members of Good Shepherd R C School were present in the programme. MESO was represented by Mebanri Laloo, CEO, Thrangki Pohshna, president of NPYF, Banang Tynsong, Lasting Lamin, Abraham Nongbri, Daniel Diengdoh, S. Kurbah and Phrangkupar Mawlong, all members of NPYF were also present.

Death anniversary of city doctor observed
SHILLONG: The first death anniversary of Dr. Steven Aibor Dkhar (Kharsyntiew) was observed on Tuesday.
Dkhar, who studied in Auxilium School and St. Anthony’s High School, died in Pondicherry. He did his MBBS and MD in Pharmacology from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. He was holding the post of Head of Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Professor Senior Scale (first Khasi to hold this post) at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research.
