SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Police would continue with the security restrictions in Them Metor till the matter is solved at an appropriate forum.

It was on May 31 this year when the situation in the entire Shillong city went berserk as few local boys were assaulted in Them Metor following which stone pelting and arson was reported from different parts of the city particularly in Motphran

Speaking to media persons, East Khasi Hills SP, Davis Marak said that the Police had put restrictions in the area from the perspective of security to ensure that the problem did not escalate again.

“The restrictions will continue till the time situation is fully normalised and the matter is solved at an appropriate forum,” he said

He also stated that there were some tension still going on which had the possibility to escalate all over again and hence police is still cautious.

It may be mentioned that the Shillong Police have put up barricades in both the entry points of the  colony and traffic movement is completely restricted and the restriction also irked the Opposition leader, Mukul Sangma who had criticised the  State Government alleging government failed to normalise the situation.
