The Rs 12.93-crore building has VIP and VVIP accommodation. The guest house will serve the people from the state including students, patients, tourists and other visitors who travel to Chennai.
“With the inauguration of the house, it will facilitate the people from Assam to get accommodation and food in the new city,” Sonowal said, adding, “The Assam Bhawan in Chennai is not just a bhawan, it is a bridge of friendship and camaraderie between Assam and Tamil Nadu.”
While thanking Tamil Nadu government for its benevolence, Sonowal also said that considering the large number of people from Tamil Nadu living in Assam, the government can set up a similar facility in Guwahati and the Assam government will help.
The Assam government will soon set up facilities in Vellore, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Pune. The one in Delhi will be inaugurated shortly.
He said that ever since the BJP-led dispensation has come to power, the government has been relentlessly working to augur an investment climate in the state.
