AAI, Assam ink pact on road upgrade

GUWAHATI: A memorandum of agreement was signed between the Airports Authority of India, North Eastern Region and the Assam government for the renovation and improvement of public road connectivity from VIP Chowk, Guwahati airport  to Kahikuchi market (length 1100 m) under the corporate social responsibility programme of AAI here on Thursday.
This is the first phase of work where the road will be renovated till Kahikuchi market.
Addressing the media, West Guwahati MLA, Ramendra Narayan Kalita said the government has joined hands with AAI under the MOA for the benefit of the local people as the improvement of the road would enable smooth and safe movement on the stretch.
D.K Kamra, regional executive director, AAI North Eastern Region, informed that the entire project under phase-I would be completed at cost of Rs 45 lakh and was aimed to benefit commuters.
The additional cost of the project as proposed by the Kamrup deputy commissioner’s office is Rs 47 lakh.
