MDC Laban-Mawprem inaugurates new road

SHILLONG :The Member District Council ( MDC),  Laban-Mawprem constituency, Ricky Shullai  on Saturday formally inaugurated  a newly-constructed  lane at Oxford Hills that has been widened and beautified with  tiled  floor cover which otherwise had turned into a garbage dumping ground and  a haven for all kind of illicit activities.

The MDC inaugurated the lane in the presence of the Headman of Kenche’s Trace, Oxford and Rilbong (KOR), DS Mawlong along with the members of the Dorbar Shnong KOR, Sengsamla, etc.

 “As an MDC of the constituency, it is my duty to look that lanes and narrow roads in the localities that were within my jurisdiction were clean and being maintained,” Shullai said while speaking at the inauguration site.

He expressed gratitude for all the cooperation and assistance he got from the members of the Dorbar Shnong Kench’s Trace,Oxford Hill & Rilbong that help to speed up the renovation of this lane in the area.

He also informed that earlier he had received many complaints from the member of the Dorbar and people of the locality that this lane had become garbage dumping ground and haven for all kinds of illicit activities putting the people who have to pass through this lane in great difficulty and insecurity.

Shullai also said he would  see that more developmental works were being brought into the Dorbar Shnong KOR and stated that he also wanted all the localities within the constituency to have proper drainage system which is the main cause of pollution.
