SHILLONG: The condition of the 27-year-old man, who was thrashed by the public in Ri Bhoi for allegedly raping a 4- year- old minor girl in Umsaitsning in Ri Bhoi district is critical.
The accused identified as Ananias Lapang (27) is alleged of raping the minor last week and he was caught on Saturday by the locals who thrashed him before handing him over to the police.
According to media reports, the accused had gone into hiding after allegedly committing the crime last week. It was reported that he was seen in 6 Kilo, Kyrdem Kulai, Police said a case was also registered against the group of people who thrashed Lapang for taking law into their hands.
