Mukul seeks support of all parties to strengthen Cong

SHILLONG:  Leader of Opposition in Meghalaya, Mukul Sangma has urged political parties of the state and the country to help and assist Congress party to strengthen it and to sustain democracy in the country.

When asked about the idea of the ruling  MDA alliance to field a common candidate in the next Look Sabha election, Mukul Sangma said that all political parties which are affiliated to other parties should assist Congress to grow stronger so that the interest of the people could be defended and to ensure that democracy did not get threatened in the country.

“ I will rather appeal to all concerned who may be affiliated with others to align with Congress keeping in mind the larger interest of the nation,” he said.

Earlier, Sangma said that the country was going through a challenging situation in the last four years  and it was imperative on the Congress to reach out to the people and tell them why all should come together and ensure to support  a party which would restore eroding  democratic values in the country which is heading to an uncertain future.

He also lamented that there was too much infringement into the institutions which have been the strengthen of the nation and now they are getting attention due to all the wrong reasons.
