Workshop cum heritage event held at NEHU

TURA: ‘Ethnica’, a two day workshop cum heritage event organised by the Department of History and Archaealogy was inaugurated at NEHU, Tura Campus on Monday.

 During the inaugural function, Pro Vice Chancellor of NEHU, Prof G Singaiah was Chief Guest while Prof Meeta Deka from Department of History, Guwahati University was the Guest of Honor.

 Different speakers at the workshop emphasised on the need to identify and preserve the tangible and intangible heritage and the need to keep up with times by incorporating heritage with modern technological platforms and for retaining social, economic and ethnic identities.

 Several individuals including Sembertush A Sangma, Sotjak Ch Marak and Colnat B Sangma were also felicitated during the programme for their contributions and achievements in the field of Garo traditional art and Literature.

 Other events like traditional sports, ethnic dress competition and ethnic dance competition will also be conducted on the second day.
