About 50 huts gutted in fire at Kahilipara, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: About 50 huts were razed to the ground and several people received burn injuries in a devastyating fire that broke out at the Sweeper Colony at  the 4th Assam Police Battalion Complex at Kahilipara in Guwahati on Tuesday evening. According to preliminary reports, the fire was suspected to have been stoked due to firecrackers .

At least five LPG cylinders went off due to the fire adding fuel to the inferno making it a herculean task for a number of fire tenders engaged to douse the  blaze. One car and a number of motorcycles were also gutted in the fire. Several persons with burn injuries have been admitted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
