Special session needed for Eighth Schedule

SHILLONG: The NGOs and Khasi Authors’ Society held a joint meeting on Monday at the office of Khasi Students’ Union (KSU).
In a statement issued here by the KSU, the union learnt that there were two provisions which were hurdles in the way for the incorporation of Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
In the meeting, it was decided to urge the government to call for special session and to solve the hindrances in the resolution.
Besides the KSU central body and the KSU NEHU unit, others present were HNYF, SSSS, KJWA, and Hynniewtrep Research Scholars’ Association.
