NONGPOH:  A Leprosy Case Detection Campaign (LCDC) will be organised in Ri Bhoi District from November 12 up to November 14 this year, according to a Press communiqué issued by the office of the District Medical & Health Officer, Ri Bhoi District.

The programme will be jointly organised by State Health Department and National Health Mission together with the National Leprosy Control Programme.

The Leprosy Case Detection Campaign is a unique initiative under the National Leprosy Control Programme (NLEP) with the main object to detect early cases of leprosy affected persons so that they can be saved from physical disability and deformity by providing them early timely treatment and thus halting the transmission of disease.

As part of the campaign, each and every member of the targeted population will be examined by the search team constituted by the DMHO office who will be visiting houses as per plan prepared for the area to detect hidden and undetected leprosy cases.

In this regard, the office of the DMHO, Ri Bhoi District urged the general people to cooperate with the office during house visits and examination in order to eradicate this dreaded disease.
