TURA: The hearing of the case over the Horticulture Department in South Garo Hills failing to reply to an RTI filed by the AYWO recently and reply to a subsequent show cause is set to take place on Saturday at 12 noon.
Earlier, the AYWO had filed an RTI with the department seeking information on the various schemes under the department as well as its implementations. However, the department failed to reply to the RTI sought even after the expiry of the deadline.
On September 19 this year, the State Information Commission had issued a notice to the PIO and District Horticulture Officer (DHO) to show cause as to why the information sought for should not be provided to the complainant and why penalty awarded to them for failure to provide the same in time. The commission had also questioned why the same action should not be taken against the UDA present during the submission of the RTI for refusing to accept the application.
