SHILLONG: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) said the party had decided to field candidates in all the three Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills.

Informing this, PDF president, Ivanbanlumlang Marbaniang said the meeting of the central election committee was held on Friday in which the party had called for application from Khasi and Jaintia Hills for the 2019 Council Polls.

The party aimed to contest the 29 seats in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will examine the applicants even after the recommendation of the zonal committee.

“The aspirants will have to get the recommendation from the zonal committees of the PDF. In those constituencies where the zonal committee is absent, the application will be given but the central election committee will be examining it as well as other applicants,” he said.

The party also decided to field candidates in Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) and forms will be given in the coming week.

Marbaniang informed there were aspirants who approached the party and wanted to join the party for contesting the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).

“Since the election for the GHADC will not be held together with KHJADC and JHADC, but as a state party we decided to field candidate in all the councils,” he added.

Regarding MP election, he said there were aspirants who approached the PDF and said, “We will have to discuss the matter thoroughly. As a new party, we have to think over it very properly.”
