SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Home Minister James Sangma are yet to return from their Europe tour despite the law and order situation arising out of attack on social activists Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma by suspected coal mine owners.
The office of the chief minister gave only a statement of condemnation.
Among the Cabinet ministers, only Sniawbhalang Dhar visited NEIGRIHMS to inquire about the health of the assaulted victims.
The chief minister and the home minister also missed the Wangala festival in West Garo Hills after assuming power under MDA.
They deputed Tourism Minister Metbah Lyngdoh as chief guest unlike in the past when former chief ministers Mukul Sangma and DD Lapang regularly attended the festival without fail.
Besides, the duo was not in station when the first chairperson of the Meghalaya Lokayukta assumed office recently though former chief minister Mukul Sangma was present.
