SHILLONG: HSPDP has stressed the need of solving the boundary dispute, introduction of ILP and NRC in the state on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee celebration on Saturday.
The celebration of the party started with the inauguration of the party office at Boyce road in the city.
It was a dual celebration for the party as it observed its 50 years journey from November 10, 1968 till 2018 with the president KP Pangniang hoisting the party flag and inaugurating the party office.
On the occasion, Pangniang spoke about several issues which the party has been raising such as the continued harassment of the people living in the Assam-Meghalaya border.
Observing the increasing influx in the state, he said the party supports the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) to prevent influx.
HSPDP also opposed introduction of passenger train if proper mechanism is not implemented. The part is also against jurisdiction of the Municipal in scheduled areas. On the other hand, he also spoke about policies for youth, agriculture and mining.
“Wood based industry should be increased but presently, there is no legal wood based industry. Forest resources should be used in a legal manner,” Pangniang said.
Regarding district councils, he said the councils should be strengthened and the boundaries of Khasi Himas should be marked.
