SHILLONG: The Departments of Music and Christian Studies & Peace Initiatives of Martin Luther Christian University supported by Red FM organised a musical event under the theme “Peace through Music’ at Ward’s Lake in the city on Saturday.
The event has become a popular fixture aptly called Music by the Lake, since the department first performed in 2014.
The main objective of this year’s Music by the Lake is to spread awareness about the power of music towards having peace in the world.
Speaking at the event, the Head of the Department of Christian Studies and Peace Initiatives, Rev Elungkiebe Zeliang, said that conflicts all over the world and even in the city affects lives of all ages and that peace is the need of the hour to survive as a society in the world. He added that musicians from different generations and genres have always used their talent to spread the message of love and peace.
The performances included songs with the message of peace by the students of MLCU.
The event also helped the students in building confidence and using their music to attract a pre non-existent audience.
One of the objectives of these events was to provide a platform for students to showcase their musi-cal skills and talents, going a long way for the student-performers to learn experientially.
