Meghalaya bow out of Subroto Cup football tournament
SHILLONG: It was the last league match of the group. And Meghalaya needed a win to progress into the next round. However, the opponents from Assam proved better on the day and Meghalaya, represented by HS Elias School, bowed out of the tournament with a 1-2 loss. Meghalaya went into the attack and scored a goal after being awarded a penalty. Dajied Wanshnong stepped up to take the strike and scored with ease. Meghalaya dominated play throughout but could not better their score. At this point, Assam forged an equaliser thanks to a defensive lapse from Meghalaya players. Assam added another goal when Saveme Tariang gave away a penalty from a handball error. Assam made no mistake to convert from the spot to go 2-1 up. In the second half, Meghalaya kept on thwarting the Assam defense and made ample moves forward but could not find the equaliser.

City to host International Judo seminar
SHILLONG: As part of the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival, Meghalaya Judo Association is conducting an International Judo workshop cum seminar on November 15-16 at Laban Sports Club indoor hall. The seminar aims to bring Judo enthusiasts, Judokas and other martial artists as well as sports administrators together to promote and popularise Judo – the only martial arts that is an Olympic discipline. Enthusiasts can have a direct audience with a Judo expert from Japan. S. Chaliha who won a gold medal at the recently concluded Commonwealth Judo Championship 2018 held in Jaipur will be one of the Judo partners at the Seminar and will also take part in a Judo demonstration on Nov 17. Knockout football tourney
SHILLONG: Lawsohtun Sports, Social & Cultural Organisation is organising a cash prize open to all New Year bonanza inter club knockout football tournament from Nov 25 at Lawsohtun Football ground. The winner of the tournament will walk away with a prize money of Rs 1,21,121 while the runners-up will pocket Rs 44,444 with trophies. Entry fee for the tournament is 2300 and last date for submission of forms is November 17.

NEHU Football tourney
SHILLONG: On match day 6 of the NEHU Inter College Football (Men) Tournament 2018, Jaintia Eastern College defeated Raid Laban College 5-4 via tie breaker. In the second match, K L Bajoria College defeated Sngap Syiem College 3-0, while Nongstoin College defeated Thomas Jones Synod College 5-3 through tie breaker in the third match. On Wednesday, Shillong College will play Mawlai Presbyterian College while Nongstoin College will take on K L Bajoria College.
