SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has directed that the cost of the medical treatment for both CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing and her colleague, Amita Sangma shall be borne by the State Government.

Hearing a petition filed by Amita Sangma and others  regarding  the recent attack, the High Court said that the NEIGRIHMS as well as the state shall ensure that all medical facilities as required were made available to both the injured social activists

The Court has also asked the Investigation Officer to file the latest status of the investigation so far carried out into the matter and  remain present in the court on the next date along with case diary.

The matter has been posted for hearing on November 27.

The petitioner in the writ petition prayed for investigation by the specialised agency like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and also prayed for direction to the state government for providing adequate security.

The Additional solicitor General  in the course of the hearing said that the injured persons were  admitted in NEIGRIHMS and there was no scope for any person to cause any harm to them.

However, the Court said that the DGP should take appropriate measures for ensuring protection of both the injured persons in NEIGRIHMS.
