SHILLONG: Home Minister James Sangma on Thursday retaliated to Zenith Sangma’s “political bosses-coal mafia nexus” remark saying the Congress leader does not have evidence to substantiate his claim.
Speaking to reporters in the city, James, who recently came back from Europe tour with family, said, “Before you make allegations of nexus between certain political leaders (and coal mafia), there must be some kind of hard evidence that he must produce along with his allegations, which he has not done.” Earlier, he said, “Any kind of unsubstantiated allegation is not good for a leader of his (Zenith’s) experience.”
James went on to say he does not want to go into allegations without proof. “I don’t think it is worthy of me to reply to that,” the minister said to a query.
Zenith on Wednesday had said the ongoing illegal mining was a proof of collusion between the government and the locals.
