SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has reserved judgment on the education scam case related to the fresh inquiry report on 10 centres, where recruitment of teachers was carried out, submitted to the court by the CBI.
A hearing was held on Friday after the report was submitted to the court on Wednesday.
In the past, the CBI had carried out probe only into five centres where manipulation was detected and the fresh probe was based on the order of the High Court on November 2 last year to go for wider investigation into all centres.
During the course of the inquiry into 10 centres, the CBI found the original score sheets of the candidates were missing.
The court also examined another report submitted by the CBI following the earlier petition of 99 teachers.
Out of the 99 teachers, 49 were found to be tainted.
Earlier, the High Level Scrutiny Committee, based on the first CBI report into the education scam, had segregated tainted and non-tainted teachers.
Recently, there was a petition from 99 candidates claiming that they cannot be treated as tainted.
As far as the issue of criminal aspect of the education scam is concerned, the CBI has completed the report and it will be submitted to the Sessions Court once the CBI head office gives its nod.
