Former MDC, 500 others join NPP in Tuber

JOWAI: Former MDC of Tuber Constituency in East Jaintia Hills, along with more than 500 supporters, has joined the National People’s Party on Saturday at a meeting held at Khliehriat West Community Hall.
Those who joined the NPP are supporters of Phawa, an aspirant candidate who will be applying for the NPP ticket to contest in the upcoming council election 2019.
The Khliehriat block president, Rapbait Bareh chaired the meeting in the presence of the party adviser, including Bataw MDC, Joinriwel Pyrtuh and Musniang Rangad MDC, Phasmoon Dkhar.
The NPP unit in Khliehriat lauded Phawa and hoped that the party will recommend his name for the council election next year.
“We are confident to sweep all nine seats from East Jaintia Hills,” party block president Rapbait Bareh said.
It may be mentioned here that the NPP had invited applications in East and West Jaintia Hills Districts to contest the District Council Election in 2019 and the last date is November 30 as informed by Jowai MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla, member of the Election Committee in Jaintia Hills.
The block president also informed that the State NPP has appointed Cabinet Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar as the Chairman of the Election Committee with Raliang MLA, C Ymbon as members.
