Lapang will be a guiding factor if joins NPP: Tynsong

SHILLONG: Senior National People’s Party (NPP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong has said that the Chief Advisor to the Government, DD Lapang would be a guiding factor in the party if he joined the party  at all.

Talking to media persons here on Tuesday, Tynsong said that the party had not received any official communication from DD Lapang  about joining the party

“He will be the guiding factor and he would guide  us if he is joining us ,” Tynsong  said while adding that Lapang if he joins the party will definitely boost the party as he is the senior most leader of the state.

It may be mentioned that Tynsong also  met DD Lapang on  Monday. However Tynsong said that he met Lapang in the capacity of the Chief Advisor of the Meghalaya Government

When asked if Lapang would also be a guiding factor in sorting out the issues of the common candidate in the alliance, Tynsong added  that the matter would be discussed in the coordination committee of the alliance.

DD Lapang, who is a former Chief Minister, is one of the veteran leaders to resign from the Congress earlier this year after accusing Congress of sidelining senior and old leaders of the party.

However, Congress in Meghalaya had alleged  that there was a political ploy behind the sudden the resignation of Lapang and he resigned from the party to join NPP
