Two killed, 17 injured in accidents

SHILLONG: Two persons were killed and as many as 17 were injured in a spate of accidents reported from all over the state.
In a hit and run case on Saturday, Binod Saikia (24) sustained injuries as the bike he was riding skidded near Jyntru in Ri Bhoi around 6.28 pm. The victim was trying to pull his bike up when he was hit by another car that sped away.
On Saturday around 7.46 am, the driver of a speeding Chevrolet car lost control at Pommura main road. The vehicle first hit a Scorpio car then finally hit an Alto car that was in front of the Scorpio. Batynshai Nongspung (20), Christopher Mylliemngap (45), Aimerial Kharlukhi (53), Bitol Mylliemngap (56) and Isabel Kharlukhi (26) sustained injuries.
Bidas Jat (47), met with an accident when the truck he was travelling in dashed against another truck at Jowai By-pass around 8 pm on Saturday. The victim suffered fractured tibia.
On Sunday around 7.12 am, Darmingstar Nongsiej (17) sustained injuries as the car he was travelling in lost control at Damsait.
On Monday, a 20-year-old man met with an accident while riding his bike (ML07 – B 4697) around 12.40 pm at 108 Rongjeng. The victim was in an inebriated state and lost control of his bike as it skidded. The victim suffered head injury.
On November 19 around 10 am, one scooter (ML-10A-1706) dashed against a stationary bus (ML-05P-9128) at Umdohbyrthih, Shillong By-pass road in Ri Bhoi. As a result, the rider sustained injuries and was shifted to CHC Bhoirymbong.
On November 17 at about 3.30 pm, one truck (ML-08C-2693) dashed against one motorcycle (A/F) ridden by Rahul Hajong at Sipragaon, South West Garo Hills and fled away. As a result, the rider and one pillion rider sustained injuries and were removed to CH Ampati, where the pillion rider Prafulla Ch Das succumbed to his injuries.
Necessary formalities were observed on the deceased and the matter is under enquiry.
On November 18 around 2.30 am, while Leichombam Suresh, driver of truck (AS-5JC-4221) was checking the tyre of his truck near Khanapara in Ri Bhoi, the truck rolled over the driver. As a result, the driver sustained injuries and was shifted to Guwahati Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries.
On November 16 around 6 pm, one tempo (ML-08D-6918) driven by Dhononjoy Koch (26) capsized at Ullubari Road, South West Garo Hills. As a result, two occupants sustained injuries.
On November 16 around 1.15 pm, an accident took place between one tipper truck (ML-11-8247) driven by Dun Emi Suting (26) and one motorcycle (AS-01L-7860) ridden by Chandra Sinha at NH-6 Star Cement Junction, East Jaintia Hills. As a result, the rider and one pillion rider of the motorcycle sustained injuries and were shifted to CHC Khliehriat. On November 16, an accident took place between two vehicles (ML-04C-5525 & AS-01-AQ-6099) at Hill Top, Jowai in West Jaintia Hills. As a result, two persons sustained injuries.
