SHILLONG : The KHAD (Village Administration) Bill, 2014 will not be applicable to Chiefdoms (Himas) whose Acts are codified.
Replying to a supplementary query raised by Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) MDC Adelbert Nongrum, KHADC CEM HS Shylla said, “The VAB will not be applicable to those Himas who already have codified Acts.”
A total of 19 Himas/Elakas have codified Acts out of a total of 25 Himas and 30 Sirdarships.
Divorce cases
A total of 277 married couples divorced during the year 2017-18 as per the information provided by the Executive Member (EM) in charge of General Administration Department (GAD),, Rona Khymdeit.
Replying to a supplementary query raised by People’s Democratic Front (PDF) MDC, Hadrian Lyngdoh on the reason for the divorce, Khyndeit said the different reasons for divorce were not known as the Executive Committee did not deal with such cases except the District Council Court.
Market complex
The Executive Member (EM), JM Tynsong said the market complex at Nongstoin had been completed which entailed a total amount of Rs 5.64 crore with 145 shops and the tentative date for inauguration had been slated for December 8 next. The reason for the delay in installation of electricity has led to the delay in the inauguration of the market complex.
CCTV
The total number of CCTV installed in the premises of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) is 24 – executive building (12), Court building (4), Legislative building (8) and none in the MDC hostel.
The total amount for each CCTV is Rs 13, 65 268 – Rs 11, 41, 808 and Rs 2,23, 460 in 2013 and 2018 respectively. However, only one theft case was detected through the CCTV in 2014 and the culprit was arrested.
