SHILLONG: Amita Sangma named NPP leader Nidamon Chullet, the mastermind in the attack on her and Agnes Kharshiing in her statement to the East Jaintia Hills Additional District Magistrate SS Syiemlieh at NEIGRIHMS on Saturday.
Amita also told the magistrate to get the call records in the mobile phones of the police personnel at Ladrymbai police station to know the truth as she suspected that the police may have informed coal dealers about them as they proceeded to Sohshrieh where they were brutally assaulted.
Before proceeding to Sohshrieh, Amita and Agnes had visited Ladrymbai police station.
Amita said they were followed by the local coal transporters who surrounded and assaulted them at Sohshrieh when they were taking pictures of coal trucks.
Amita said though the distance between the police station and Sohshrieh was short, police arrived very late to the incident site.
Amita had already filed a petition in the High Court of Meghalaya seeking a CBI probe to unravel the truth behind the police-politico-coal mafia nexus which will come up for hearing on November 27.
During her statement to the magistrate for almost two hours, Amita also referred to her letter given to the DGP seeking the arrest of Chullet and others from the ruling party for their involvement in the attack.
Though the magistrate visited Agnes at ICU, no statement was taken due to her health condition.
However, he took the statement of doctors at NEIGRHIMS who informed the magistrate that Kharshiing is not yet fit to speak.
The East Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to the assault on November 8 and has given 15 days to the magistrate to submit the report. But Syiemlieh may seek more time.
Critical surgery
Meanwhile, John Kharshiing, brother of Agnes, said she has not fully recovered and recuperation will take time.
Doctors want to conduct an orthopaedic surgery on Agnes on Monday but there are chances of complications and the NEIGRIHMS authorities want the consent of the family before conducting the surgery.
Kharshiing said the family has sought time to discuss the matter before taking a final call on the matter.
