SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills (EKH) Deputy Commissioner, PS Dkhar has revoked the earlier order  directing  withholding of the annual examination results of those students who refused to take Measles Rubella Vaccination (MRV).

Deputy Commissioner, PS Dkhar said that the order was revoked after he held a meeting with the doctors recently  and now parents could take the  results of their wards

“I have asked District School Education Officer to instruct all schools to issue their progress report,” he said.

He also said that now it depends on the children and their parents, if they want to administer MR vaccine or not,” he said.

The decision of the district administration to withhold the annual examination results of those students who refused to take Measles Rubella Vaccination have already received flak from different NGOs in the state

The East Khasi Hills District Administration took the decision of withholding the results earlier since the two Districts of East Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills are under pressure due to the low immunization rate  and how they  would increase the immunization  in the district was their discretion.

While most of the districts have performed very well  with immunization  of children from  80  percent to  100 percent, the percentage of immunized children in East Khasi Hills District is only 51  percent while it is 66  percent in South West Khasi Hills as per the last report received from the Government.
