RESUBELPARA: In an admirable act of compassion and humanity, two cloth merchants from Garo Hills provided assistance to a stranded 21-year-old girl from Nagaland. Martha Hmar (21) was on her way to Guwahati after being hired as a house maid and boarded a train in Dimapur on Wednesday. However, she later found herself helpless after realising that her cell phone and purse were missing. TURA: Danakgre A’king Nokma Enila Ch Marak has submitted a complaint to the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner against the recent announcement made by residents regarding the changing of the name of a locality from ‘Samguri’ to Lower Danakgre under Danakgre A’king. In a meeting held recently, residents of the concerned locality had effected the name change vide an affidavit sworn in before the 1st class magistrate in Tura on November 19. “This is an unauthorized act done by some vested interests without taking consent and authorization of my Nokmaship and Chras and Clans of Danakgre a·king land and thus is illegal and subjected to be penalized with appropriate sections of the law of the land. I hereby declare strongly that I shall never allow to change the name of Danak-Samguri Village to Lower Walbakgre. Danak-Samguri shall remain as Danak-Samguri.
