Jaintia organisation demands C&RD block at Narpuh

SHILLONG:  A Jaintia Hills based organisation has raised demand to establish a Community and Rural Development (C & RD) Block at Narpuh and to upgrade Khliehriat CHC to Civil Hospital was made by a Jaintia based organisation.

The East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) in a statement issued here stated it will write a letter to Health Minister and C & RD Minister to place their demands.

“If there is a need, we will hold a public meeting,” the EJNC said after discussing their plans at the general executive meeting on Friday.

Registering their protest against several non-tribals putting up their business in Jaintia Hills, the EJNC decided to write to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) CEM to temporarily stop issuing Trading license.

The ENJC also urged the JHADC to conduct a joint inspection of the Council’s enforcement and the organization to check the documents and labour license of shopkeepers.

The organization demanded that the non-tribal shop keepers should keep tribal labourers.

The EJNC in its general executive council meeting also decided to observe the death anniversary of Kiang Nangbah on December 29 as December 30 falls on Sunday.

Different competitions such as marathon, essay competition, short drama.

Black flag march  

The EJNC has urged the residents of East Jaintia Hills to participate in the Black Flag march organised by Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organization (CoHSO) on December 7.
