Reliance deal for…
(Contd from P-1) of the Department of Health and Family Welfare to converge MHIS with the newly introduced central scheme.
However, the date for commencing of the policy has not yet been fixed and it will be decided on December 3.
A letter was sent recently to the Ministry of Health to give approval to identify Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd. as the successful bidder and a response is being awaited.
The document says the first MHIS IV tender was issued on August 23. Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co Ltd was the lowest bidder with an aggregate premium of Rs 1,999. Reckoning the premium rate quoted by the lowest bidder, which is beyond the amount approved in the budget allocation, the Tender Committee resorted to exercising the practice of contract rate negotiation with the lowest bidder, but to no avail since the lowest bidder declined to accept the proposal to negotiate the rates and stuck by the premium rate of Rs 1,999.
The state nodal agency, MHIS, therefore, made modifications and relaxations in the terms and called for re-tendering.
Following the retendering, Reliance General Insurance emerged as the successful bidder with a premium quote of Rs 1,630.
