MAWKYRWAT: The Congress is confident that it will retain the seat from Ranikor (Langrin) in the upcoming district council election and has said many leaders and supporters from other parties have expressed willingness to join the party.
The Ranikor Block Congress Committee (RBCC) organised a meeting on Saturday at Wahkaji village where over 30 primary unit presidents and secretaries were present. RBCC president Krang Lyngkhoi, treasurer PK Nongmin and all office bearers of the block committee also attended the meeting.
“According to the inputs that we have received from different locality leaders, many people, including leaders and supporters of other political parties, have expressed their willingness to join the Congress maximising the party’s chances of winning the upcoming election in Ranikor,” youth organiser of the Congress in Ranikor Vincent Tegite Sangma said.
Sangma claimed that people from the constituency understand that only the Congress can bring development. “We request the people of Ranikor to work together and not make a mistake while electing a representative,” Sangma said.
Local Congress leaders and supporters of the party are supporting Air Marshall Diengngan as the candidate for the council election. “Most of the leaders of RBCC and primary units in the constituency support Diengngan because of the winnability factor,” Sangma said, adding that the party had received another application from a ticket aspirant, Daniel Wahlang, besides Diengngan.
