Women’s T20 cricket league begins in Mawkyrwat
Mawkyrwat: The 1st Women’s T20 Cricket League Tournament organised by the South West Khasi Hills district Cricket Association (SWKHDCA) kicked off on Friday at Madan Pyndenspar in Jakrem. A total of 6 teams from different parts of the District are participating in the tournament. The tournament formally inaugurated by MDC Congress candidate Carness Sohshang in the presence of P Wahlang, Myntri of Jakrem and leaders of the association. The first game was played between Risingstar Cricket Club from Lawblei and Domjyrti Sports Club in which Domjyrti won by 16 runs. The second game was played between Dumdum from Mawkyrwat and Dream Eleven in which the former won by a margin of 126 runs.
Meghalaya state tennis tournament from Dec 15 to 18
SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Tennis Association has informed that the Meghalaya State Tennis Tournament will be held from December 15 to December 18. Northeast 3×3 Challenge & Sports Carnival
SHILLONG: Touchline North East will organise the 4th edition of the 3×3 basketball tournament or the ‘Northeast 3×3 Challenge & Sports Carnival’ from December 10 to 12 at Madan Iewrynghep in Fire Brigade in collaboration with the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) and the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs. Addressing the media on Friday, member of Touchline North East Andrew Suting informed that 60 teams from Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam, Bhutan and from other districts of Meghalaya will be participating in the tournament. About 150 matches will be played in which 50 matches will be played per day. Meanwhile, Ajoy M. Lanong said that MACS will create awareness on HIV/AIDS as the carnival would attract 15-29 year olds who are the most vulnerable to the diseases.
