NONGSTOIN: The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country’s largest fuel retailer, on Sunday invited entrepreneurs to set up 87 petrol pumps, out of which eight will be set up in West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
Ashim Paul Choudhury, IOCL manager (RS) Shillong, who is also the nodal officer for West Khasi Hills, said the main objective of the company for expansion of retail outlets is to meet the growing fuel needs and convenience of consumers in emerging markets like the upcoming highway, agricultural pockets and industrial hubs.
He added that the rural outlet network is also being expanded to ensure that consumers in remote areas get quality product at the right price.
The expansion will also generate jobs, Paul Choudhury said. Online application has been introduced and those without land can also apply on a condition that when called by IOC, they should be able to offer land.
