NONGSTOIN: The over Rs 5-crore New Nongstoin Market Complex was inaugurated on Saturday by KHADC chief executive member HS Shylla.
The project started in 2009 and was implemented by the KHADC under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources of the 13th Finance Commission and Special Assistance Scheme 2016-17 at an amount of Rs 5,64,27,000.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Shylla lauded the effort and initiative taken by the former MDC of Nongstoin N Nongdkhar for bringing such a big scheme to Nongstoin and making it successful.
Nongdkhar advised the development committee and the Dorbar to ensure that outsiders are not allowed to do business in this complex. “This market complex should not be captured by people from outside like what has happened in Shillong. Also, people should keep this place clean,” he said.
The CEM also pointed out the delay in inaugurating this market building by saying earlier there was a conflict between the KHADC and the village Dorbar on sharing the benefits from this project but after his election as the head of the council, he can solve the matter and now the Marker Complex has been able to inaugurate.
