TURA: Three employees of a petrol pump at Nongalbibra in South Garo Hills were kidnapped at gunpoint on Monday evening.
Though the incident happened around 4.45 pm on December 10, it was reported to police around 7.30pm. According to witnesses, five men, who are yet to be identified, armed with guns, came in a Maruti van and took away Shiv Kumar Patel, Dharmendra Patel and Witley Sangma, all employees of the Amasa Petrol Pump at Pathargittim under Nongalbibra police station. “Delay in reporting the case led to delay in starting (search) operations. Currently, a search is on to locate the abductors and rescue the three victims,” said district SP Abraham T Sangma. According to police, the kidnapping was witnessed by another employee of the same fuel station who later alerted his owner and authorities.
It is alleged that a ransom demand has been made to the fuel station owner by the kidnappers for the safe release of the employees.
