Concerns raised over non-functional ISBT, Baljek Airport

TURA: The Garo Graduates’ Union (GGU) has raised concern over the delay in making functional the Inter-state Bus Terminus at Chasingre near Tura and the Baljek Airport at Jengjal, constructions of both of which were completed some years ago.
The issue was raised during the 51st annual general conference of the union held recently at the Garo Graduates Union Secondary School in Tura during which GHADC CEM Dipul R Marak was the Chief Guest. The conference was also attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, T T C Marak and Executive Director of Haggai India, Bijoy A Sangma.
Stating that the delay was a cause for concern, the GGU resolved to take up the matter concerning the two facilities with the Chief Minister and concerned departments in future. The Baghmara Nursing Training School in South Garo Hills which has also remained non-functional despite its completion was also discussed. The union decided to take similar steps with regard to the institution.
With an aim to uplift the youths of the region the members during the conference also highlighted the need to introduce Skill Development Educational Motivation and Networking for which an action plan Sub-Committee was also constituted. The action plan Sub Committee would be led by T T C Marak as Convenor, Emphul Ch Marak as Member Secretary and six others as members.
The GGU, while demanding the early completion of the Tura Medical College and Tura Governor’s House, also sought setting up of the Pollution Control Office in Tura. The member also lauded the government for having set up the Passport Office and the Chief Minister’s Office at Dakopgre.
The deterioration of the Tura Government Boys Higher Secondary School was also discussed by the members and a resolution taken to approach the Chief Minister to take steps for its improvement.
