SHILLONG: A senior journalist is all set to explore the North East region on a Himalayan Bike and dig out the untold stories of the region in his upcoming book.
Sabir Hussain, 53, from Hindustan Times is originally from Guwahati and is living in New Delhi for the last 30 years.
Hussain visited Meghalaya recently and acquainted himself with the local culture and lifestyle of people. During his stay, he visited many places, experienced archery and also met famous singer Lou Majaw and the top football clubs in the city.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Hussain said he was part of a motorcycle club in Delhi and had always wanted to go on solo rides. He stated that he went on his first solo ride to Ladakh in 2013 and authored the book Battlefields and Paradise shortly after that.
Speaking about the path he has traversed so far, Hussain said he began his journey from Siliguri in November and visited places like Darjeeeling, Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh where he met senior citizens who had witnessed the war back when China occupied a large part of Arunachal.
Hussain, who is currently in Imphal, plans to visit Kohima to meet the surviving veterans of World War II. Another intention of riding through the North East is to see if he could still carry on with the Himalayan at his age, said the tough rider.
