Lady on Clean India Trail reaches Shillong

SHILLONG: A 52-year-old UAE expat, Sangeetha Sridhar who have embark on a 29,000 km solo trip through 310 cities in India, which she calls Clean India Trail, reached Shillong few days back

She is exploring the entire country on her SUV and she is visiting different states to spread the message of cleanliness besides finding out if the women are really safe in India

Sridhar’s journey began on August 12  last year from The Gateway of India, Mumbai in her modified SUV and she hopes to complete her voyage in March this year.

On her voyage, she has been also auditing the public toilets along her route, recording her findings and then handing them over to the Ministry of Tourism, Swachh Bharat Mission, and United Nations Sustainable Development Board

She reached Meghalaya few days back and she visited Dawki, Mawlynnong, Sohra and finally Shillong.

According to her, the theme of her journey is  Gandhi 150 as Mahatma Gandhi had a dream of free INDIA

Stating that she had spent over 137 days in her modified vehicle, she added that she was also talking to people in Meghalaya to understand how the people here had embraced nature .
