SHILLONG: Former members of the executive committee of Dorbar Shnong Shnat Raid Tynring have demanded the conduct of fresh election to elect the Sordar.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, assistant secretary of Dorbar Shnong Shnat Raid Tynring, Richard Nongspung, alleged that non-residents of Tynring also voted in the election of the Sordar Shnong.
The Syiem of Hima Khyrim directed that only residents are allowed to vote in the election which was held on December 31, 2018.
“There were 1,209 voters while the ballot votes were up to 1,213. But then the Myntri (elders) went ahead with the election although there was opposition,” Nongspung said.
During the election of the Sordar, the women were also allowed to vote.
